Youth Mentorship Groups

We currently serve 67 youth a week!

Our after-school Youth Mentorship Groups aim to increase youth resilience through providing a combination of basic needs, social-emotional learning, access to trained Mentors and novel experiences.

All sessions include a Shared Meal, a Community Circle routine, STEAM activities, and outdoor play.

Experiences

During the school year we bring mixed aged groups on immersive experiences outside of regular Youth Mentorship Group program time. These days are designed to provide youth with new experiences including viewing performances with Portland Ovations, attending cooking classes at ME Powered Pastries, attending service days with KinCorps, cheering on fellow Our Place Members at football, basketball, and soccer games, and more!

New Program Alert!

In Fall 2026, we added a second Mentor Lunch for our High School youth. On Monday and Fridays, Mentors attending Portland High School are picked up and brought to Our Place during the open campus lunch period. The 40-minute block is used as a way for staff to check in about personal and academic life on top of providing mini-lessons on topics like Driver’s Education, financial literacy, college planning, and more.
