Values Defined
The Background
Our Values Defined
During Mentor Leadership Training in June 2026, in celebration of our fifth summer of Our Place, our Mentors redefined our core values.
From our Board and Staff to our youth, we are united in the belief that these values define who we are and how we will continue to show up within the broader landscape of youth-serving organizations.
Empathy: Imagining how someone else may feel and acting to support them
Belonging: Feeling loved, seen, and included in a community
Safety: ensuring your mind, body, and neighborhood are healthy
Community: relying on your friends, family, Mentors, and neighbors for support
Integrity: being your best self everywhere you go, even when no one else is watching
Consistency: showing up for yourself, your peers, and your community
Leadership: using what you know to uplift others and build a stronger community
Experiences: trying new things with courage and an open mind
